FOUNDATION ART AND DESIGN

This non-credit bearing course represents an essential primer for all prospective students with creative ambitions in the visual arts. The intensive one-year Foundation course in Art & Design is designed to give students a sound platform from which to enter their chosen field in art and/or design. Strong emphasis is placed on the investigation of fundamental principles in each subject area. This is carried out through a project-based programme, which incorporates both traditional and experimental forms.

The syllabus is built around the core areas listed below. Whilst each subject area seeks to help the student identify his or her strengths within it, integration and experimentation across all areas is also actively supported.

All graduates of this one year course will be assisted in the development of an accomplished portfolio of work suitable for presentation for further study, or for entry into the industry, that not only reflects his/her personal ambitions and career objectives, but also displays a basic competence in all core skills areas.
